The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada will introduce e-learning in the engineering colleges under its fold to improve the quality of technical education, according to its Director (Evaluation) Dr.Ch.Sai Babu.
Holding an awareness meet at the Prakasam Engineering College at Kandukur he said the syllabus being revised by involving experts in the fields of education and industry would be adopted for the first year students from the new academic year.
Explaining the salient features of e-learning, he said students would be provided with e-content and video clippings so that the slow learners could learn at their own pace, while others could access global links to get additional information.
Online evaluation of answer-sheets would be made from current academic year to ensure transparency. Students could get by email their evaluated answer-sheets to know where they had done mistakes, he explained.
He gave appreciation letters to Narayanamma who scored 99.56 per cent and Gitasruthi, who scored 96.9 in B.Tech first year exams.
PEC Correspondent and Secretary K.Ramaiah said online evaluation would go a long way in minimising evaluation-related problems. College Director K.Srikanth also spoke.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada is making arrangements to open its third engineering college in Guntur, as the government issued the required permission. Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor G. Tulasi Ram Das said that plans were afoot to establish university colleges of engineering in Srikakulam and Ongole too.
He said the fourth convocation of the university would be conducted in February and the vacancies of 53 teaching and 11 non-teaching posts would be filled very soon.
Two-day national conference on Innovations in Engineering and Technology (NCIET) 2013 at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna District, 92 research papers from over 62 institutions from across the nation were presented. “The convention provided a platform for the researchers to share their research findings, thus paving way for ‘knowledge sharing”, said convener M. Kamaraju.
JNTUK, Kakinada Academics and Planning Director P Uday Bhaskar said such programmes prove to be effective in igniting creative thirst among the student community. He said research conducted on the college should have a relation to the requirements of the industries and furthermore urged the faculty to publish the research papers.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUK) has in principle agreed to conduct research activities in association with the city-based Godavari Kno-wledge Society (GKS) in the field of Marine Biotechnology. In a meeting held at the JNTUK here on Saturday, representatives of the GKS Sankar Prasad, J.R. Murthy and Srinivas Kakarla mooted the idea of designing ‘Solar Vacuum Dryer’ and it was proposed to install in the equipment in the incubator centre of the university.
Discussions were held on the possibility of taking up some projects involving departments like the Fisheries Department. Both the JNTUK and the GKS will enter into an MoU in the next month. Third- year civil engineering student of NRI Institute of Technology P. Roja Rani has been selected to participate in the ongoing south-India Inter-University Basketball competition. She is representing the JNTU-Kakinada team. The competition began held at Dr. NTR Health University from December 21. The college Principal R. Venkata Rao and Physical Director P. Goutu congratulated the student.
The Field Operation Division of National Sample Survey Office (NSS) will undertake a nation-wide survey on ‘Social Consumption on Health and Education’ from January to June, 2014.
The survey will be preceded by a three-day regional training conference which will commence on December 18 to impart training on concepts and definitions and on-field training for field functionaries involved in this survey.
Deputy Director General, NSSO, Southern Zonal Office, Bengaluru, Sandhya Krishnamurthy will inaugurate the regional conference while Director D. Satish, Assistant Director A.S.N.M. Rao and other senior officers will impart the training.

The East Godavari unit of the Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) conducted the district-level ‘Chekumuki Science Sambaralu’ at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) here on Saturday. Registrar of the JNTUK G.V.R. Prasada Raju, the chief guest of the function, called upon the children to focus on science education and evince interest in academic research.
Competitions were conducted in short-story writing, drawing and essay writing on subjects like environment and science. As many as 342 children from 32 schools participated in the competitions.
General secretary of the JVV’s State unit N. Sankarayya said that the objective of the event was to inculcate scientific knowledge among the children and make them know about illusions and superstitions. An interactive session with biologist from EGREE Foundation P. Satya Selvam remained major attraction for the children.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Globarena Technologies and Magnetic Infotech to initiate software in the examination automation process. The idea was to bring forth a positive change in examination and evaluation process.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of the JNTUK G. Tulasi Ram Das said that the online evaluation process would help minimizing many problems related to the evaluation, as modern technology would be used under the project. He felt that the process would help enhancing the quality of evaluation and confidentiality so that transparency would be ensured. Registrar G.V.R. Prasada Raju, CEO of the Globarena Technologies V.S.N. Raju signed the MoU.
Some 3,000 students are expected to participate in the two-day convention, the first of its kind being organised by the CSI in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra University Vice-Chancellor and one of the Chief Patrons of the convention G.S.N. Raju told reporters on Tuesday that it was a matter of pride that a big convention was being organised in the city giving a good opportunity to students to listen to some of the best technocrats and learn from them.
The theme of the conference is “ICT and critical infrastructure.”
Convener of the Organising Committee Paramata Satyanarayana said the CSI was arranging free accommodation to 1,000 students to enable participation from students of other colleges and from rural areas.
He said as many as 20 colleges are coordinating the effort.

Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) G. Tulasi Ram Das on Tuesday advised the physical directors of the colleges affiliated to the university to hold meditation classes in their colleges for students and the faculty as well, so that they could get rid of the tensions of the daily life, besides getting re-energised to face the new challenges. The Sports Council Meeting was held at the University here, in which over 150 physical directors from the affiliated colleges participated. Addressing the meeting, Prof. Das underscored the need for ensuring transparency in selecting students to the tournaments.

Sports Department of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant felicitated Y.
