The Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU) will soon announce scholarships for children from economically backward families, vice chancellor M. Aslam said on Sunday.
He also said that efforts would be made to make education free for such students if they opt for IGNOU courses.
He was speaking on the occasion of the Republic Day celebration at the IGNOU campus.
A Kendriya Vidyalaya school and a playground for children of IGNOU employees shall be set up so that children in the complex don’t have to go too far for education.IANS
The last date for applying for Indira Gandhi National Open University entrance test for admissions into MBA and other business administration programmes is January 20, according to a statement issued by IGNOU Regional Director S. Raja Rao.
Candidates have to qualify in the entrance examination ‘OPENMAT-XXXV’ to be held on February 23 for admission into Master of Business Administration (MBA), Diploma in Management (DIM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM), Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (PGDMM), and Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Markets Practice (PGDFMP).
Candidates must have graduated in any discipline with 50 per cent marks for general category and 45 per cent for reserved category, with three years (post-qualification) managerial/ supervisory/ professional experience or they must have a professional degree with 50 per cent marks in engineering/ medicine/ chartered accountancy (ICAI)/ cost and works accountancy (ICWAI)/ company secretary-ship (ICSI)/ law.
Student handbook and prospectus for management programme-2014 can be obtained from IGNOU Regional Centre at Ushodaya Junction, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam or any of the IGNOU Study Centres located in Dr. L. Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam, Ideal College, Kakinada, DNR College, Bhimavaram, Maharajah’s Post-Graduate College, Vizianagaram, by paying Rs.1,000 in cash at the respective sale counters. Application form and prospectus can also be downloaded from the website:www.ignou.ac.in.
Filled-in forms must reach the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, on or before January 20.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will conduct an entrance examination on February 23 all over the country for admission into the Diploma and MBA programmes for July 2014 cycle.
Admission into PG Diploma in Management in financial management, operations management, marketing management, and Human Resources Manager will be made through the entrance – OPENMAT-XXXV, a press release said.
Student handbook and prospectus can be had from Regional Centre, S.K.P.V.V. Hindu High School premises, Kothapet, in Vijayawada, T.J.P.S. College in Guntur, V.R. College in Nellore, Kavitha Memorail Degree College, Khammam by sending Rs.1,050 through a demand draft in favour of IGNOU payable at Viajayawada. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has democratised higher education and through distance mode, brought it nearer to the sections that were so far deprived of the advantage, Registrar of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University Pasala Sudhakar said while participating in the 28 th Foundation Day celebrations of the open university at its Regional Centre here on Tuesday.
Prof. Sudhakar appreciated IGNOU for its quality academic programmes and maintenance of high standards in providing distance education programmes through ODL mode in India and abroad. Regional Director of IGNOU S. Raja Rao explained the activities of the centre to promote IGNOU programmes in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari districts. The students’ strength was increasing from session to session, Dr. Raja Rao said and wanted the staff to work harder to provide better service to the students. Staff of the Study Centre, Gyan Vani FM Radio and Regional Centre participated in the programme.
