Siemens Centre of Excellence at MCET

Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, entered into a memorandum of understanding with Siemens – Industry Software India (P) Limited for the launch of the MCET-Siemens Centre of Excellence for Digital Manufacturing on the college premises on Friday.
The exchange of MoU was done between M. Manickam, chairman of the college, and Murali Lakshminarasimhan, director-technical, of the company, in the presence of Vice-Chairman of University Grants Commission H. Devaraj who inaugurated the centre. The centre is established at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore and is equipped with CAD / CAM / CAE and PLM software, including SolidEdge, NX, FeMAP, CAM Express, TeamCentre, FactoryCAD, and many others. It will offer a variety of training programmes to cater to the needs of students and engineers. The centre will promote the advancement and implementation of product lifecycle management through research and education, in partnership with industry.
Mr. Devaraj, in his inaugural address, urged engineering graduates to possess multidisciplinary knowledge in engineering. Appreciating the institution-industry interface, he pointed out that such efforts would serve to bridge the gap between knowledge of engineers and industry expectations.
