Youth Science Congress at St. John’s Public School
St. John’s Public School (SJPS), in commemoration of the forthcoming National Science Day and as a part of the School’s Annual Educational Project (2013 – 2014) is organising a two-day Youth Science Congress exclusively for the middle school students of city schools and their Science teachers.
The two-day event will be held in the school campus at Jalladianpet, near Medavakkam, on January 31 and February 1, 2014. It includes a series of business sessions and parallel competition sessions, for both students and teachers.
The event gives provision for ten Student Delegates, from classes six to eight, seven students as competitors, and two-three teachers as teacher delegates to participate.
The theme of the Congress is ‘Changing Science and Changing Society’, with 20 sub-themes.
The sessions will include some on the topics ‘Emerging Trends in Science and Technology and Career Options’ and ‘Some Scientifics Principle and Concepts’.
The competitions for students are – Written Talent Test, Quiz on Science Poster Making and Art from Waste. Teachers can also take part in the Paper Presentation contest.
The participating school can compete for 500 points to bag the overall Trophy for I Place and II place respectively.
An aspiring Science student award will be presented for five students among the enterprising student delegates observing their participation and enthusiasm during the business sessions.

Entries Close by January 24 2014. There is no entry fee for participation but entries are accepted only through schools.The official language of the two-Day Congress is English. On both the days, the sessions will be from 9.00 a.m to 4.45 p.m.
