ANU Vice-Chancellor inaugurates Youth Festival.

Youth festivals refresh the minds of youngsters and provide an opportunity to them to show their talent, said Acharya Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor K. Viyyanna Rao.

Addressing students at the inauguration of the ‘Yuvajanotvams’ here on Tuesday, Mr. Rao said students from more than 50 colleges of Guntur and Prakasam districts were taking part in the event.

The campus came alive with joyous scenes as students, usually busy with special classes, study hours and examinations, were seen dancing to the tunes of trumpet beats at the festival. Some others who thronged the venue were seen doing rehearsals for performing well in the Yuvajanotsavams.

Venues decked up

The ANU authorities decorated the Dr. Diechmann and Dr. John David Auditorium, Open Theatre, Prof. Dakshina Murthy Seminar Hall, Prof. Venugopal Reddy Seminar Hall and Vikas Bhavan for the celebrations.

Competitions in theatre, fine arts, dance, quiz, music, literary events and spot photographs were being organised during the three-day festival, said Prof. Viyyanna Rao and stressed the need for taking part in extra-curricular activities apart from studies for all round development of the youth.

IG goes back in time

University Rector Y.P. Ramasubbaiah, Registrar P. Rajashekar, OSD A.V. Dattatreya Rao, and Youth Festival coordinator M. Madhusudhan Rao participated in the inaugural function.

Inspector General of Police (IG), Guntur Range, P.V. Sunil Kumar said that there were no youth festivals in Osmania University during his stay on the campus.

The IG who attended as chief guest of the inaugural function, recalled his student days and advised the students to set a goal and try to get into good positions as per the expectations of their parents. A huge round of applause from the students greeted his address.

The IGP narrated how Apple Inc founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, founded Apple Computers with his partner Steve Woznaik and developed it despite facing several hurdles in life.

Due to vigorous hard work and commitment, the American entrepreneur is running the company valued about 415 billion dollars in the market, said Mr. Sunil Kumar.
