‘Walk for Books’ held
A large number of book-lovers participated in the Walk for Books organised as part of the 25th Vijayawada Book Festival on Saturday. Municipal Commissioner C. Hari Kiran flagged off the walk at Press Club.
Noted journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao, noted physician and social worker G. Samaram and former MLA K. Subbaraju were among those who walked up to the book festival venue Swaraj Maidan.
On the occasion, Mr. Hari Kiran appreciated the Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS) for organising the prestigious event for the last 25 years and exhorted the people to make the best use of books not only as a means of pleasure but a valuable source of knowledge.
He hoped that the VBFS would keep the good work going for many more years in the interest of book-lovers and society at large.
A large number of students and some book-lovers from foreign countries currently on a visit to the city took part in the walk.
