Auto driver sets an example in honesty
An autorickshaw driver in the city has set an example with a good deed on New Year’s eve.
Prasanth, an auto rickshaw driver living near Irumpanam, restored Ashitha’s belief in humanity when he returned the purse that she had forgotten inside Prasanth’s auto rickshaw.
Ashitha, a Thrissur resident, was in the city recently and forgot her purse inside the auto rickshaw. The purse contained about Rs. 1,000 in cash, about three sovereigns of gold ornaments, and two expensive mobile phones, one of which costs around Rs. 30,000. Once she realised her mistake, she frantically called her phone numbers in the hope that she could get the purse back.
Prasanth, however, did not realise that one of his passengers had left her valuables in his vehicle until the next morning, when he took the auto out for a wash. On noticing the purse, he contacted Ashitha and informed the police about the incident.
He handed over the purse to its owner in the presence of police officers at the City Traffic West police station here before the New Year dawned.
