The Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences Tirupati and Annamacharya College of Pharmacy, Rajampet in association with Indian Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Chennai organised an international workshop on Medication Therapy Management as a part of the Pharmacy Practice Module Learning Series.

The idea was to bring the scientific community under one umbrella and explore the importance of pharmacy education in clinical aspects on par with USA system and other countries like Australia, Germany, Canada and others to improve the health care system.

Elizabeth Sherman, assistant professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice Nova South Eastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Miranda Nelson, Clinical Associate Professor from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and Krishna Kumar, Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics School from Howard University, Washington DC shared their expertise.

ALUMNI MEET

 

The first Alumni Meeting ‘Smriti -2013’ was conducted by the Department of Business Management, RBVRR Women’s College on December 21 in the college auditorium. More than 200 students from batches dating from 1991 onwards participated in the meet amidst nostalgia, a press release said.

Capt. Mamatha, Executive Director, Flytech Aviation Academy was the chief guest for the event, while Facebook India’s Staffing Manager V. Archana, was the guest of honour. Prof. Tippa Reddy, Dr. MV Lakshmi Devi, Prof. Muthyam Reddy, Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy, and Prof. Renuka Sagar from the college also participated in the event.

The alumnus shared their experiences and memories of college days on campus during the meeting. New Office Bearers of the Alumni Association Committee were also nominated during the event.

EDUCATION FAIR

 

Nalla Narsimha Reddy Group of Institutions conducted different events for students, including those from engineering, pharmacy and management streams. As part of the events, an International Education Fair was conducted in association with Vaalmiki Group.

Representatives from different universities, especially from USA, Canada and France participated in the fair. Students from different colleges attended participated in the event and university representatives counselled them about overseas education in their universities, procedure to obtain I20, educational loan process, sponsorship etc.

This apart, a motivational lecture was also organised for first year students about overcoming stress, opportunities after graduation Anil Nair, popular Mathematician. Further, he also explained about different effective and short cut methods in problem solving and screened many videos about the success stories of different people, said a press release.

TRADITIONAL DAY

 

Marri Laxman Reddy Institute of Technology (MLRIT) celebrated its Traditional Day wherein the students came in their resplendent best reflecting the Indian culture and customs. Marri Laxman Reddy welcomed the students and said it was an effort to remind students that despite being global citizens they should continue to respect their culture and ethos.

Several cultural activities like dancing, singing and dandiya were organised as a part of the programme. M.Rajashekar Reddy, secretary MLRIT was present.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

 

The BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women conducted a workshop on “Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes” that dealt with developing tools for disabled people to make the quality of life much better with simple materials.

Dr. Therese Willkomm from University of New Hampshire, USA was the resource person and she was assisted by her post graduate students Vanessa Lynne Tocco and Emily Nicoll Hames. They dealt with creating simple tools that improve the quality of life of the disabled.

The workshop started with the demonstration of various daily used materials. Then the students started developing equipments with daily used items in few minutes. “Students found this workshop to be very interesting and were able to develop many useful equipments for the disabled people with their innovative ideas,” said the principal, K.V. Sunita.

Chairman of Sri Vishnu Educational Society (SVES), K.V.Vishnu Raju stressed the importance of creative thinking of engineers to make the quality of life better for disabled people.
