National integration camp begins
The five-day National integration camp organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Adilabad, got under way here on Thursday. The 150 young rural participants are drawn from Sikkim (Gangtok), Madhya Pradesh (Seoni), Maharashtra (Chandrapur, Karnataka (Bangalore Rural), Odisha (Berhampur) and Andhra Pradesh (Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad).
The Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, N. Venkateshwar Reddy, who was the chief guest, said the NIC was a coordinated effort by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs to bring uniformity through exchange programmes between different States. He said such camps helped understand culture, education and health aspects of various places.
Guest of honour Kannam Mohan Babu urged students to emulate the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Mother Teresa. STEP Chief Executive Officer N. Venkateshwar Rao, District Sports Development Officer N. Sudhakar Rao, District Youth Coordinator R. Venkatesham and in-charge DYC M. Ramchander Rao also participated.
