KV celebrates Sports Day
Member of Parliament Rayapati Sambasiva Rao inaugurated the 32nd Annual Sports Day of Kendriya Vidyalaya on the school premises at Nallapadu on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP praised the staff for maintaining good academic standards. He said that playing sports and games would help them maintain good physique and health and asked parents to encourage their children to take part in extra-curricular activities.
The MP later lit the ‘sports torch’ and received the guard of honour from students at the school playground.
Mr. Sambasiva Rao also opened the second shift in Kendriya Vidyalaya, which works from 12.35 p.m. to 6 p.m. on all working days of the institution.
MLC K.S. Lakshmana Rao, who also attended the programme, opined that Kendriya Vidyalaya was having good reputation for imparting quality education for students despite facing stiff competition from private and corporate institutions.
Philanthropist Gogineni Kanakaiah, who donated land for constructing the school building, complimented the vidyalaya principal for giving due importance for sports and cultural activities.
Institution principal M. Rajeswara Rao said that Kendriya Vidyalaya, running classes from 1st to 12th (intermediate), has 1100 pupils. With the launch of second shift, the strength would increase by 200 students, he said.
