Contest to promote creativity among students
Dr. K.V. Rao Scientific Society (KVRSS) has invited applications from schools in and around Vijayawada and Guntur for a science fair – “KVRSS – Spark 2013-2014”.
The competitions will be organised for students from all over Andhra Pradesh from Classes 7 to 12 in two categories (Category I is Classes 7 to 9 and Category II: Classes 10 to 12). It is a competition to promote creativity and scientific discovery in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, a release of the society said on Friday.
The objective of this fair is to discover and nurture talent for innovation and problem-solving among children, he said.
A science fair is a competition where contestants present their science project results in the form of abstract report, display board and models that they have created. For the Preliminary Selections, the abstract report either in English or Telugu will have to be about 1,000 words (in triplicate). These entries must reach on or before Nov. 31. Inventions /models qualifying in the preliminary round will be intimated by Dec. 20. The final presentation shall be held on January 11 at Hyderabad.
Projects shall be judged on the basis of originality, creativity, innovation, utility, proper use of scientific method and thoroughness in their studies and effort.
The winners will get Rs.10,000 cash prize. The first runners up will get Rs.7,500 and second runners up Rs.5000.
