5,000 take part in painting contest

The Andhra Pradesh Balala Hakkula Sangham conducted a spot painting competition at Bal Bhavan, Public Gardens, on Saturday. About 5,000 children participated in the event that was conducted as part of the Children’s Day celebrations.
The event was held in three categories and children were given topics of child labour (for children between nine and 11 years) and child rights (12 to 15 years). Eight participants from each group will be chosen for prizes which will be distributed at a ceremony to be held on November 14 at Ravindra Bharathi.
Meanwhile, events such as extempore, spell bee, poster making, elocution, quiz, memory test, mimicry, mono action, pot painting, fancy dress and group singing were conducted as part of the XIX Montfort Literary and Cultural competitions, at St. Paul’s High School here on Saturday. Prizes for the group dance event were bagged by St. Mathew’s High School, Vijayawada, Little Flower High School, Abids, and St. Gabriel’s High School, Kazipet, according to a press release.
