Entrepreneurship awareness camp
An entrepreneurship awareness camp (EAC) is being organised at Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship among students.
The event is part of an Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) organised by the entrepreneurship cell of IIT Kharagpur, a non-profit student organisation, in association with the VIIT. The Entrepreneurship Cell was established with the aim of fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among college students in India.
Guest lectures
The EAD consists of a series of guest lectures and workshops in 20 cities spread over a period of 20 days in October. Each city plays host to an entrepreneurship awareness camp, where eminent entrepreneurs and industry leaders counsel students about the pros and cons of entrepreneurship as a career and how it differs from the usual run-of-the-mill job culture that has existed till now.
The awareness camp at VIIT will have guest lectures by Shakir Ali, founder and CEO of The eMerchant, Mohamed Abdullah, Director of Conduira Education and Training Services and Pavan Krishna, CEO of Vignan Group, Visakhapatnam, who would offer insights into starting a successful enterprise. The event will also have workshop by Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of AP (ALEAP).
Awareness drive
IIT Kharagpur’s Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive has come a long way since its inception five years ago with the number of cities growing from 10 to 20 and the visiting students increasing from 7,550 in 2011 to 12,000 in 2012. Some of the distinguished guests who have participated in the EAD include Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Founder of Biocon, Phanindra Sama, CEO of Redbus.in and Arjun Malhotra, co-founder of HCL Technologies, among others.
